What if my child becomes homesick?
As we recognize homesickness is a natural aspect of being away from home, we ask parents to be supportive and encourage their child through letters as opposed to telephone calls or visits. We ask you to leave dated letters to be handed out during the week as campers love reading the letters from home. We have found homesickness is usually only an issue for the first night. After which, they’re having too much fun and forget their worries. If homesickness continues to be an issue, we will notify the parents.
Is HHF the right fit for a non rider and/or advanced lesson rider?
HHF has lesson groups to fit riders of all abilities. We specialize in not only giving complete beginners a proper foundation, but also challenging the more advanced rider and providing new riding experiences for them as well.
What special equipment is required for this camp?
Besides the traditional camp gear, the only specialized equipment you need to provide are smooth soled boots with a one and a half inch heel and non-chafing pants for riding. HHF provides ASTM certified helmets for a $10.00 weekly rental fee.
Where do campers stay?
The campers all sleep in the air conditioned lower level of our home with our head counsellor. Although campers spend the majority of their time outside, the basement is decked out with a TV and DVD player, microwave and lots of comfy couches for our popcorn and movie nights.
